Message International


A dedicated nationwide network of committed volunteers: Serving by offering means for non-Muslims to initiate dialogue, arrange visits, or acquire knowledge and free materials on Islam. Offered via a toll free hotline and website, which is promoted by the 877-Why-Islam campaigns.

These campaigns can be seen on billboards, in Television, Radio and Newspaper outlets across America. Other means of offering this service are accomplished by marketing techniques such as mass mailings, automated dialing, and community events.

Average of 40 phone calls and 200,000 website hits per day!

The Project

 
The project presently consists of the following:
  • Arrange mosque visits and one-to-one email correspondence
  • Organize inmates' correspondence
  • Furnish prison libraries with Islamic literature
  • Place billboards in several large cities: prompting phone calls to the hotline.
  • "Islamic Perspectives": A WhyIslam television production initiative featuring topics on 13 different subjects. It has produced 3 shows that are being aired on local Cable TV.
  • Sensitivity classes for law enforcement agencies.
  • Outreach- WhyIslam's outreach program is one of the most diverse and critical grassroots outreach programs. It includes, but is not limited to, outreach booths, block-walks, flyer and audiotape or CD distribution, personal dialogue, and mass mailings.
The local chapter of this project is run under the Southern California Chapter of ICNA. While the actual project was concieved and started in the year 1999 by the New Jersey Chapter of ICNA.
